The volleyball was created in the United States, on February 9, 1895, by the director of physical education of the ACM,  William George Morgan.

By inventing volleyball and  rules, Morgan had as main objective the creation of a sport without physical contact between players. Thus, he wanted to offer peoplea sport in which physical injuries caused by collisions between people, would be rare.

In the early years, volleyball has not had a specific ball being played with a chamber of basketball. The network was improvised, the same used in tennis matches. During this time, the sport was known for Mintonette. With the passage of time, was winning the popular name of volleyball, which became official.

Sarah Menezes




Sarah Gabrielle Cabral de Menezes was born in Terezina, on March 26th 
 of 1990 and is a Brazilian judoka and Olympic champion.
She is the first woman to achieve the first gold medal for Brazil in the Olympics.

Career

  • Participated in the Beijing Olympics in 2008 at age 18 being defeated in the first fight.
  • In December 2010, she won her first bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Tokyo.
  • in December 2011 he won the silver medal in the Judo Grand Slam in Paris.
  • In the Pan American Games 2011 in Guadalajara, she took the bronze after a defeat
  • Olympic Games in London 2012, Sarah was the first athlete to win a gold medal for the women's judo in Brazil.
